2018 USA ADVENTURE 09-12

No riding today, we were just a couple of tourists in this Town. Took in a few of the sites and had a really nice day exploring. Tomorrow it’s on to Buffalo.

Our Map of the Day is a City Walk Below

2018 USA ADVENTURE 09-11

Off to Toronto today. First the ferry and then a lovely ride into the first major city we’ve seen since Thunder Bay. Our bikes attracted the attention of some other riders and we spent the morning getting to know them and here all about their many and varied adventures on the road. Two nice fellas with some good tales. The ferry crossing was a calm one and it took almost 2 hours to cross the Georgian Bay to the other side of the Lake and on to Toronto.

2018 USA ADVENTURE 09-10

Day Two of the Lake Superior Canadian Trek continues. We got a tip, from a local rider we met, about a ferry that would take us across the Georgian Bay and set us on a route to Toronto that would save us two days, so we said yes to that itinerary change and headed off to South Baymouth at the end of Manitoulin Island. That would be an island in the middle of a Lake. An island that is 100 miles long in the middle of a Lake. You don’t see that every day.

2018 USA ADVENTURE 09-09

Oh Canada, how vast you are. Spent 6 hours riding around the top of Lake Superior and didn’t even make a dent in the place. We’ll have another 6 hours to ride again tomorrow to even get close to coming around the top of Lake Superior. The scenery is predictably beautiful, but the gas is scarce. Had another close call and new road rules about when to gas up had to be implemented!

Our campsite was beautiful, right on the Lake. Couldn’t have asked for a better location or a better sunset. Truly lovely

2018 USA ADVENTURE 09-08

We left the Sundown Campground and headed for Duluth, Minnesota.  This is the place that the Aerostich Company makes "Roadcrafter Riding Suits" .  Mine was 8 years old and three sizes too big so we stopped by "Just to look!  Well needless to say I now have a new suit, one that actually fits.  Wendy has some new gloves she really needed, and we got a folding spatula to boot which was something we have been looking for. So all in all a good stop in Duluth.

Then on we went into Canada on our way to Thunder Bay and our overnight Motel the "Knights Inn", catchy name.  It was a typical inexpensive road side motel which served it's purpose quite well.  A hot shower and dinner an off to sleep we were.

Tomorrow we are off to Highway 17 on the north, the Canadian, side of the great lakes.
